Audiophiles rejoice! ASUS is gearing up to allow you generate HD audio out of your PC now. That means using you home theater system while playing DOOM 3, instead of using your less than adequate Logitech duds.

The sound card is called the Xonar HDAV1, and it allows you to cable out 1.3 HDMI. The card allows decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio at 24 bit 96-192 Khz through 7.1 channels, maximizing you audio experience. This card also features HyperGround technology, which allows for very little distortion and EMI noise.

This is pretty cool for anyone hoping to watch HD video on their computer, but you still need a Blu-ray player to do so. Seeing as how the players are still pricey, I don’t see why many people will buy this, other than to play games.
