So what about the next generatation iPods? There have been rumors spreading around the tech blogs that a new iPod will be introduced during the third quarter of the fiscal year. The rumors first came about when Wolfson Microelectronics, the original audio chipmaker for the early generation iPods, announced to their shareholders that Apple has decided to go with another “tier 1″ microelectronic manufacturer. Since these rumors first spread out, the public have been waiting for an announcement regarding the new iPods.

Well rejoice Apple iPod fans, your dreams just may have come true. Apple Inc. has sent out invitations to various media outlets to the Yerba Buena Center for the Performing Arts in San Francisco for next Tuesday at 10 a.m. PDT. The event is entitled “Let’s Rock”.

So what should we expect from this event? The buzz is that the next generation will have more capacity and wireless connectivity. There have been rumors regarding the iPod Nano as well. The next generation iPod Nano will go back to the longer slimmer frame of older generation, but the widescreen can be used for videos. The iPod Touch is looking to have a sleekier design and a price cut, similar to its sister the iPhone 3G. In addition, there are rumors that an iPod Shuffle will have more capacity, but should sell at the same price or cheaper than current prices. Lastly, will we see a new OS X 2.1 released?
